Moon and Star on Earth

Moon and Star Islands

“No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friend’s or of thine own were. Any man’s death diminishes me because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee…” ~~John Donne (1572 -1631), Meditation 17, 1624.

This is a fantastic photograph of no place on earth! See “The Moon and Star on Earth”.

  1. After I received this picture, I queried various “knowledgeable people” among my contacts as to where “The Moon and Star on Earth” might be. Other than “I don’t know” a nephew wrote:

By close look at the light/shadow and the unlikely waves on the “inside? of the star, I suspect that this is a computer generated fake. It certainly would have been widespread knowledge before now if such a very unlikely natural landform existed.

    Is he “right on”?

  4. the “moon” is without a doubt Molokini, a partially submersed crater near Maui, Hawaii.
    The pic is a fake.
If you get a chance – Molokini is beautiful and the sea life in that crater is incrediable.

  8. There is no way nature could carve out a 5 point star island like that, and right beside that half moon rock.

  9. Right away it was obvious this was fake. Am I the only one to recognize that it is the symbol of Islam?

  12. This is most likely representing the star and cresent of kappa sigma fraternity. There are also ties into masonic symbolism

  13. This photo is mesmerizing. The moon and 5 point star are also old religion / pagan / wiccan symbols. I would imagine many cultures have cause to revere these symbols.

The rest is a fake of course and I would imagine it is a fake to represent the Islamic symbol.

  23. Aloha,

I AM NATIVE HAWAIIAN AND DON’T LIKE WHAT WHOEVER DID TO OUR MOLOKINI ISLAND. I REALLY DO FIND PEOPLE OBNOXIOUS MAKING A FAKE PICTURE FROM ONE OF HAWAII’S NATURAL WONDER BY ADDING THE STAR. KEEP HAWAII, “HAWAIIAN” AND STOP TURNING IT INTO A HAOLEFIDE PHOTOGRAPH. LEAVE OUR HAWAII ALONE, YOU’VE DONE ENOUGH TO MESS IT UP AND NOW WHOEVER MADE UP THE STAR BY ONE OF OUR HAWAII’S NATURE WONDER THAT GOD CREATED SHOULD NOW BE CORRECTED. MY GOD, A HUMAN ALWAYS HAVE TO RUIN GOD’S CREATION.
BY THE WAY, HOW RUDE TO SAY IT WAS IN TURKEY, THE CREATOR IS A TURKEY.

  24. In response to Leihuanani:

Dude…you come across as an extremely angry and hostile person! Sounds like what ever happen to YOUR HAWAII….is your fault, cause you let it happen. Now you just want to set at your computer and gripe about it!

As for the picture I find it inspirational of beauty. Oh yea, there is real beauty on earth created by GOD, even if this is not one of them.

Personally, I have never heard of YOUR Molokini!

Get a Life and let there be Peace, brother.

  25. Lee, your comment about the Hawaiian, was not very nice, he is right. This is a fake, and anyone who has been to Maui knows that this picture is Molokini Crater with the star added.

  28. I too use PhotoShop alot (photo restoration)so looking closely at the star, I can see that he built it from the image of the crescent island. The top coast of the star is from the right coast of the crescent directly across from it. Look for repeating patterns. The square boat is also copied.

    tnx

  30. Guess what people? Who cares if this is a fake! Some of you people are making a huge issue out of it! Big deal! To the people who think it is beautiful, I agree with you! It is a really neat picture and I would love to know who came up with such a neat idea. It is just an island with a star beside it. It’s not like it is hurting anyone or anything for that matter. Good god people! See nature’s true beauty! If we want to alter one picture of some island, let us! It isn’t going to kill anyone! God! Awesome picture though! ***** 5/5 stars for this picture!

  31. I agree with Lee and Brittany. Leihuanani totally overreacted. Yes the picture was inspired by Hawaiian beauty, be proud of it! I would recommend you to chill and look at the bright side. stars and moons are symbols to religions, fraternities and people all over the world dont act as if it is only from the islam and that if it is, it wud be bad. Lets respect each other. God created heaven , earth and everything around and between it and i do believe that nature wud be able to amaze us like this.

However instead of bashing the one that was inspired to create this pic, lets admire the person for the God given talent that he/she has. Becoz of talents that we do not understand we can nowadays travel across the world, live in buildings, talk on the phone, cure our children and sit behind a pc to surf the web.

to bad it doesnt exist i wud go and visit i guess i will go to Hawaii to visit the Molokini Crater instead.. U see Leihuanani there is always a bright side!

No offence intended….peace to all and God bless..

  33. The pic is fake, alright. still, I think it is possible for nature to forge interesting shapes — fractal geometry in snowflakes for example. Then there’s giant’s causeway. On the other hand, I think lei is overreacting. it doesn’t hurt anyone. Of course, I understand that he finds it a mockery of his country, but keep in mind that Hawaii is a place of natural beauty, and some people base artistic photography, even fictional ones, on real places. Don’t take it as an insult, take it as your country inspiring creativity.

    And just for the information:

If such an island existed, it wouldn’t spark too much attention, because people would have known it existed. People are usually interested in something if it’s out of their reach.

And to Sandra, nope, people wouldn’t notice the crater and say instantly it’s God’s way of saying he created heaven and earth. I’m a christian, but let me say it’s the same as if God one day turned the oceans pink with polka dots. People wouldn’t say it’s a sign from God, they’d say “there has to be a scientific explanation.” Killjoy scientists. meh.

    Well, that’s about it.

  35. Fake or not, it does not make any difference to Muslims. We are not supposed to adopt any symbolism even though it does appear on some flags and mosques.
